IB교육과 IB가 아닌교육의 차이점은 여러가지가 있지만, 교육후 행동이 수반된다는 것이 특히 어린아이들에게는 두드러지게 나타나는 효과이다.
나무를 심는것이 중요하다는 교육을 배웠을 경우, 평범한 교육방식에서는 나무가 인류에게 하는 역할, 보존하는 이유 등을 배우면서 강조하고 논술을 준비한다면, IB에서는 논술을 준비하는 과정이나 생활속에서 그 결과가 나오도록 교육과정을 달리한다. 3인칭교육에서 1인칭으로 말이다.
이제까지의 지식적인 학습이 아닌, 내가 사는 집, 교회, 마을, 도시 등에서 직접 관찰하며 나무가 많은곳, 환경을 특히 보호해야 할 곳, 환경 조성이 완벽하게 된곳 등 체험과 함께 기록을 병행하고 친구들과 그리고 선생님, 부모님에게 자신의 의견을 이야기 하면서 앞으로의 계획을 스스로 세울수 있는 힘을 기르게 한다. 그 결과, 어른들의 권유없이 아이들은 스스로 자연을 보호하고 삶의 일부로 여기게 되는 것이다. 아름다운 삶을 계획하는 것, IB의 또다른 매력이다.
